My social media platforms share ideas for creating peace. One of my posts inspired me to write an in-depth article about one of my favorite things in the world - water.
I have always been in love with water. I spend as much time in or around it as I can. It is one of the reasons that I felt called to live on the island of Kauai. I feel so blessed and in touch with Spirit when I am immersed in the clear, turquoise ocean.
There are many ways to enjoy the benefits of water wherever you live.
1.Surround yourself with art and photographs that depict water.
Most people will automatically relax and feel pleasurable emotions when they see a body of water. This inspired me to display ocean paintings around the house. One room is decorated to look like a beach cottage with art, decor and bed linens that give it a serene ambience.
2. Put a small water garden or fountain in your home or yard.
I have a little water fountain in my feng shui water corner that provides a lovely flow of energy. I also enjoy designing and building water gardens. I fill a large urn or basin with water and develop an ecosystem for fish and water plants. I have always had a fondness for water lilies. To me, these flowers represent remaining pure and peaceful despite external circumstances.
3. Make taking a bath or shower an inspired, cleansing ritual.
Water helps me to release the stresses of the day and to feel renewed. A long, hot bath offers many physical and mental health benefits. My husband built an outdoor bathing gazebo for me so that I could enjoy water and nature. I fill the tub with fragrant essential oils blended with epsom salts. Then I enhance the experience with flowers, candles and soothing music.
4. Drink water infused with positive thoughts and vibrations.
Dr. Masaru Emoto wrote several books on how this process works. “The Hidden Messages in Water” and “The Healing Power of Water” describe his experiments and results. We can infuse the water in our home and surroundings with love and peace. After I studied Dr. Emoto’s research on the interplay between our consciousness and physical water molecules, I make it a habit to send gratitude to water for its gifts.
5. Use water as a meditation tool to facilitate being in the present moment.
As you soak in a tub or go for a swim, become still and focus on Spirit. Feel the water supporting and nurturing you. Still your mind and disengage from worries about the future or regrets from the past. Relax and envision the water washing away whatever you would like to release. Realize that you are one with this magical element. Focus on the feeling of peace that comes from being in water.
